Congress recognizes dedication to improving lives

David Johnston of the Connecticut-based Center for Higher Education Retention Excellence (CHERE) has been selected as a 2013 Angels in Adoption award recipient. The award is given on behalf of the Congressional Coalition on Adoption Institute (CCAI) to those who have demonstrated commitment to improving the lives of children in need of permanent, loving homes.

Summer Melt – Students Who Fail to Matriculte: Why? What to Do?

CHERE brought in Dr. Lindsay Coleman Page, co-author of The Summer Melt Handbook, based on a study conducted at the Harvard Graduate School of Education, and a panel of students and educators at the secondary and post-secondary levels.   The October 30 program was at the University of Saint Joseph in West Hartford.  A portion of the registration fee supported emergency funds for Career Beginnings students pursuing higher education.
